![]() So far (before the blog) we’ve updated the cabinets, added a window seat (still working on the cushions), put up a wall in the guest house to replace the sink/vanity, planted a vegetable garden, and more. ![]() We are renovating a mid-century house in a historic Victorian neighborhood that we want to live in for the rest of our lives. We are Charlie and Joe from the world of music Mary Jo and Charles for the family And Jojo and Charlie on each other. Welcome to The Glade, where a second generation renovation has just begun and our obsession with home, music and other passions fills our days and nights. The last option, which we almost decided not to do, is fiber cement siding, which looks almost exactly like the existing siding on the house and needs to be painted. Now the question is, should we get Hardy Plank (hard planks) or Hardy Shingles (Looks like Cedar). The real issue is that the shape of our side is not on the side. It was Boothbay Blue (2nd row, 4th from left), which is very close to our valve color. I took Hardy’s interactive quiz to find out my true color. When we are ready to paint again, our local Sherwin Williams store assures us that they have all the Hardy color formulas. Above we chose the shade Cobblestone, which is very similar to the current color The Glade. We have painted a house and we know how much time, effort and expense it takes. Hardie paints are guaranteed for 15 years. Hardie siding is available primed (we can paint) or painted in about 20 standard colors. ![]() Hardie siding comes in several configurations: lap siding (board), vertical siding (board and lath), and shingles (cedar). Hardie siding below (cobblestone), current Glade siding above (Glamour Grey), current shutter right (Storm Grey).
